The Global Economy and Development program at The Brookings Institution (Brookings) is accepting applications for a Fellow/Senior Fellow position within its Center for Universal Education (CUE).
The successful candidate will be a scholar of international stature with a global education orientation. Candidates should have a broad perspective on 21st century skills: an interest in a range of competencies children and youth need to be successful in work and life.
The scholar will be expected to conduct research on these topics related to children’s learning experiences and outcomes, including 21st century skills, and is expected to work on policy-relevant papers and/or books. While the scholar’s specific research program will depend to some extent on the candidate’s interests and background, the position will require the scholar to spend time on three main activities: primary research, external representation, and internal management. She/he will lead issue-focused meetings, conferences and other events, and interact with other Brookings scholars, donors, foundations, and the wider policy community. The scholar will engage with a wide range of partners on his or her research (e.g. consultations with peers, in-country visits, meetings with policymakers, high-level meetings, conferences, etc.).
Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. and demonstrated substantive work in Skills. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of ten years of research or policy-related experience during which a proven record of publishing in professional, academic or practitioner journals, policy reports, edited volumes, or other publications has been demonstrated.
Brookings requires that all applicants submit a cover letter and resume. Please attach your cover letter and resume as one document when you apply.
Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Only applicants meeting minimum qualifications for the position will be considered.
Successful completion of a background investigation is required for employment at Brookings.
