Overview

The Web Content Associate will oversee the day-to-day flow of content on the Brookings website, including quality control, monitoring performance, and identifying opportunities for cross-promotion of site content. Responsibilities also include posting of video and audio content to the website, updating of institution-wide sections of the website, and providing administrative and other assistance to the web team in the Office of Communications.

Responsibilities

Website quality control and monitoring (60%)

  • Review content published on Brookings.edu daily, to ensure it meets all publishing standards and policies, is properly copy-edited, and is optimally set up from HTML coding and user experience standpoints.
  • Independently monitors the day-to-day performance of Brookings content, using web analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Parsely.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-promotion of content on the site, through related content modules, cross-linking, etc.
  • Independently maintains institution-wide sections of the Brookings website.
  • Collaborate with web publishers across Brookings to identify the best and most current photos and video for use throughout the website.
  • Lead creation of new RSS and email alert channels as needed.

 

Audio and video publishing (30%)

  • Post multimedia assets to third party distribution channels such as YouTube.
  • Coordinate posting of audio and video to event pages, blog posts, and other pages on the website, as needed.

 

General Office Support (10%)

  • Assist in maintaining website training modules and documentation.
  • Provide administrative support to the web team in the Office of Communications as needed.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in online communications or related field required. A minimum of two years of similar work experience required. Prior experience in web publishing and/or online communications preferable. Ability to prioritize, to work well under pressure with discretion, and mature judgment. Ability and willingness to learn other or new technology applications for communications design.

 

Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

Knowledge of HTML and excellent English grammar and writing skills required. Familiarity with content management systems such as WordPress and YouTube required. Working knowledge of web analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Parse.ly preferable.
